Introducing the Alpha 3 Bike Hitch Rack from Kuat

Kuat Alpha 3 Bike Hitch Mounted Bicycle Rack, White
Kuat racks. Their company name may seem funny, but when it comes to building a better bike rack they're all business. Kuat's new line of premium aluminum frame bike racks are lightweight but rock-solid.
The Kuat Alpha 3 Bike Hitch Rack rugged frame is constructed from 6061 T6 aluminum and only weighs about 13 pounds (roughly half the weight of a traditional hitch mounted bike rack). It carries three bikes, with a maximum weight load of 100 pounds. The racks comes fully assembled, but folded flat (just the right size to fit in your trunk or behind the seat in your pickup truck). To set up the Alpha, pull the linchpin holds the tongue assembly in position and swing the tongue around. Next, reinsert the linchpin and slide the tongue into your receiver. After inserting the included locking hitch pin, tighten the large adjustment knob near the bottom of the rack and the small knob on the back just above the base.  These knobs tighten the rack into the hitch and remove as much play as possible from the rack to help keep your bikes safe and secure.

The bike carrying arms on the Kuat Alpha Bike Rack have been designed with the same kind of stability features as the base. To flip the arms up into position remove the linchpin, flip up the arm assembly, and reinsert the linchpin. Then tighten the small knob on the backside of the mast to finish tightening the arm assembly. If you've ever carried your bikes on a hitch mounted bike rack before, you know the bike loading routine...with one exception. Most bike racks use only one or two straps to hold each bike in place, But the Kuat Alpha uses four straps. In conjunction with the Alpha's anti-sway cradles, this helps prevent sway during acceleration / braking and bike-to-bike contact. When not in use the Alpha's bike arms conveniently fold down to save space and make parking easier. The Kuat Alpha Bike Rack provides maximum security with its built-in cable lock to secure bikes to rack and hitch lock to secure your bike rack to the vehicle. The Alpha 3 comes in 1 1/4" and 2" receiver styles.

Yakima's BoatLoader and Thule's Outrigger II Kayak and Canoe Load Assists

nbsp;   If you've already got a kayak or canoe rack on your vehicle, but you wish lifting your boat up onto the roof wasn't quite so cumbersome, these load assist options from Yakima and Thule will help you get that boat on the roof without having to trade your existing rack for an expensive roller system. The Thule 847 Outrigger II Kayak / Canoe Rack Loader fits Thule square bar roof racks, and when not in use, the telescoping arm slides back inside the crossbar. Then the integrated load stop flips down and locks the Outrigger in place, so it'll never slide out unexpectedly and hit you in the head. Installing this might take all of three minutes. Pop off the end cap on your roof rack's load bar, slide the Outrigger II into the load bar flat side down, and tighten the retainer bolt with the included allen wrench. If you need to install an Outrigger on both sides of your vehicle, you may have to put one in the front crossbar and one in the rear if you have shorter cro...
