The Malone SeaWing
V-Cradle Kayak Carrier is a great way to carry your kayaks on a
factory installed rack. Not that it doesn't work perfectly well on
Thule or Yakima crossbars (it does!), but it's really great on factory
racks. The SeaWing's centrally located universal mounting hardware
allows you to mount these kayak cradles as far to the side as possible,
you can even let the cradle extend past the edges of your roof. On many
factory racks this lets you carry two boats flat at the same time,
something most other kayak saddles can only accomplish with longer aftermarket crossbars.
The Malone
SeaWing was designed to withstand Maine's punishing winds and
saltwater, and it's sturdy polycabonate construction and
corrosion-resistant mounting hardware ensure you'll be able to depend
on the SeaWing for many years to come. The
rubber insets in the SeaWing's cradles ensure a frim grip on your
kayak's hull, and their V-shape design fits most hull types quite well
(though we probably wouldn't recommend it for fiberglass hulls). The
Malone SeaWing includes everything you need to carry one kayak on your
roof rack, and for even easier loading, you can pair it with the Malone Stinger Kayak
Load Assist Module.
Yakima has always had rock-solid options for putting crossbars on your vehicle's factory installed rails. Their LowRider and LowRider Max rack systems fit most vehicles with raised rails and the Locking EZ Rider towers fit most vehicles with flush rails. But now, Yakima has one tower system that works on both types of factory rails, the RailGrab. With the new Yakima 0138 RailGrab Towers for Railing Mounted Car Roof Racks , you can put Yakima crossbars on practically any factory installed rails, but this isn't your usual One Size "Fits" All situation. You truly get a custom fit for your rack, and if you buy a new vehicle, or you want to swap your rack between two vehicles, you'll still get a great, low-profile rack that fits like a glove regardless of factory rail type or size. Installing Railgrab towers won't take very long. For the front crossbar, first slide two towers onto the bar and install the end caps to keep the towers from sliding off. Then
